Being referred to as “Little Vienna” or the most cosmopolitan city of Romania, Timisoara is worldwide known for at least three reasons: the first city in Europe to use horse trams (1869), electricity on the street (1889), and the place where the Romanian anti-communism revolution has started (1989). It is already an interesting city to visit, and we can only expect a further development, since it has been recently named the 2021 European cultural capital. Timisoara welcomes its guests with an occidental atmosphere, 900 years of history and a vibrant cultural life, and it also represents a perfect gateway for exploring the fabulous Western Romania.
A little bit underrated in the past, Oradea slowly turns into one of the main tourist attractions in Romania. During former years, lots of investments have been made in building infrastructure and developing tourism. Nowadays Oradea becomes a great alternative for other famous cities in the region, such as Budapest or Vienna. One of my favorite cities in Romania is truly a fabulous destination for anyone passionate about sightseeing!
Iasi, the Romanian city of the seven hills, is by far the most interesting in Moldavia region. It has a cultural heritage nowhere else to be seen in Romania, and in the same time is rapidly turning into an IT hub for the thousands of performers taking over the business environment. It is no wonder why the city is both suitable for any culture lover keen to learn the history of Moldavia, as well as for those who want to have some genuine, Romanian fun. Let's take a look at the milestones of one of the most important places to see in Romania!
Now I don't have an objective reason to back-up this statement. Probably because it is one of the first places I have visited in my life, outside Bucharest. Or maybe thanks to Mures being one of the most offering counties in Romania when it comes to tourism. Or just because I have a strange, pleasant feeling that I am actually in Barcelona every time I walk on the streets and hills of this beautiful city. I know it's an odd choice, especially with other more popular places in Romania. What I always do is recommend anyone to give it a try to Mures, and you'll see why in the following 5 minutes!
Between 2012 and 2014, I spent a few weeks in the unofficial capital of Transylvania. Business-oriented mainly, but still enough to understand why Cluj-Napoca (Cluj) is one of the most visited cities in Romania. Its glamour resides from the vibrant urban life, extensive educational and working opportunities, famous cultural festivals and many more. All of these make it the second metropolis in the country after Bucharest, but in several areas it kind of surpasses Romania's capital. Here are my 7 reasons to visit Cluj Napoca!
The area around Brasov is one of the most looked for destination in Romania! Since it's close to my hometown Bucharest, I myself have had the majority of my Romanian holidays somewhere in this region. Brasov has always impressed me with the small streets around the center and the amazing architecture of the buildings. But the city is not only a beautiful destination itself, but also a perfect starting point for exploring the landmarks around. Use this article to plan a lovely holiday in one of the most offering region in Romania!
During former years, Bucharest has received several flattering nicknames from different worldwide famous publications: one of Europe’s most authentic capitals; the second coolest city of the continent; one of the cheapest cities to live in; the European city that can offer a full experience… Basically one of the most attractive cities in Europe! With a controversial past but a modern look, my hometown is always a great place if you go deep and leave negatives aside. Not a bad destination at all...
